South African singer jailed in Australia

OkmalumkoolkatTVC E, MUSIC – Popular South African musician Okmalumkoolkat has been sentenced to six months in jail for sexually assaulting another musician in Australia.

This happened in a Hobart hotel room while he was attending the MONA FOMA Festival

According to reports, he returned drunk to the Old Woolstore Hotel and was unable to find his room, following which he entered a female artist’s hotel room and indecently assaulted her.

Five months of the sentence have been suspended and his lawyers have requested for a fine in lieu of imprisonment so he could leave the country.

Okmalumkoolkat is signed to Austrian label Affine Records and just released his debut EP, Holy Oxygen.
