TVC E, SPORTS – Ibadan begins the 2016 edition of International Polo Tournament with Kano, Lagos and Ibadan presenting teams to compete for honours.
The tournament will feature over 16 teams which includes Ibadan Polo Club, Lagos Polo Club, Kano Polo Club and more. The teams will battle for Ibadan Cup for handicap, Brig. Gen. Rotimi Cup for handicap and the Ade Alakija Memorial Cup for players.
The captain said based on historical facts at the 30-year-old tournament and the status of the teams and players featuring in this edition, this year’s tournament would be a tough contest. Among the highly rated players expected are Ahmed Umar (+3), Hamisu Buba (+3), Bashir Dantata (+3), Jubril Ali (+2) and Isa Kwame (+3).
Apart from the hosts, Lagos and Kano teams of Lead City Group, Lagos Caverton, Kano Susplan, Lagos Lekki and Ibadan Leobiga-Heirs will also contest for honours at the tournament which will end on January 31.
