The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union (TUC) in Ekiti have warned Independent Marketers in the state not to go against the new pump price as announced by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Whilst speaking in Ekiti on Wednesday, NLC Chairman, Ade Adesanmi said the Union will not tolerate any form of defiance from the marketers.
Adesanmi said organised labour would begin a clampdown on marketers who go against the directive on the new pump price regime beginning from next week.
He said: “We from the labour centre in Ekiti are consulting with NUPENG and other trade unions on the next line of action.”
Odunayo Adesoye, Adesanmi’s counterpart in the TUC, appealed to the Independent Marketers to adopt the price of N86.5 per litre as against the N120 –N130 being sold by them.
‘’We are witnessing an abnormal situation here in Ekiti. Going by the body language of the marketers, it seems they are not ready to revert unless we apply force’’.
The organised labour however, said it was awaiting directives from its national headquarters in Abuja on the next line of action over the Federal Government’s proposed removal of fuel subsidy.
