Dubia teams up with Microsoft to develop special font

Dubai will work with Microsoft to develop an electronic font named after the emirate. Redmond-based Microsoft has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai, a city in United Arab Emirates, to develop its own font.

The MoU will see Microsoft provide technical support for the design of the font, which has been dubbed “Dubai font”, and is currently being developed in Arabic and English languages.

The ongoing efforts to occupy the top rank internationally in various areas will create a new and memorable imprint in the digital world through this initiative, which is in line with its clear strategy based on a solid foundation in a move designed to reflect the vision of our wise leaders to achieve leadership and innovation.

”We are looking forward to further bolstering our strong relations with Dubia, which falls within the priorities of Dubia’s march for innovation in utilizing digital technology to improve standards of living for its people”, said Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO.

It is aimed at promoting innovation as an institutional effort that will make the UAE one of the leading countries in innovation and excellence by 2021.

Once the font is launched, Dubai will become the first city in the world to have its own font and Microsoft would carry out the design in accordance with the highest modern technological standards.
