TVCE (LAGOS) – The four men standing trial for the murder of facebook lover, Cynthia Osokogu will know their fate soon, having closed their defence before a High court in Lagos.
TVC NEWS Gbolabo Famous-Cole reports that the mention of Festac Town in Lagos instantly reminds one of the sad story of the Late Cynthia Osokogu .
Miss Osokogu, at the time a postgraduate student of Nasarawa state university, was murdered in July 2012 by four men believed to be her facebook friends inside an hotel, after being lured by her assailants into a bogus business meeting.
The fourth accused person fought tirelessly in the witness box on Monday to clear his name of murder.
Ezike Nonso Ifechukwu denied knowledge that the phone he sold to his course mate belonged to the deceased.
He told Justice Olabisi Akinlade that the blackberry phone was given to him for repair by the second accused person, who happens to be his brother who claimed that the phone belongs to the first accused person, who is his uncle.
Nonso who described himself as a phone seller, added that since his brother could not pay for the repairs, he authorised him to sell the phone. He claimed to have sold the phone for sixty-eight thousand naira.
But the Director of Public Prosecution, idowu Alakija described the testimony of the suspect as an afterthought, noting that it contradicts an earlier statement he made to the police.
The suspects, Okwumo Nwabufo, Olisaloka Ezike, Orji Osita and Nonso Ezike Ifechukwu are expected back in court on April the 11th.
