TVC E, SPORT – Group A at the 2016 African Nations Championship has been wrapped up with Ivory Coast joining tournament hosts Rwanda in advancing to the quarterfinals after they beat Gabon 4-1.
Rwanda stumbled to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Morocco, but their earlier wins – including one against Ivory Coast– ensured they finished at the top of the log.
In Butare, Ivory Coast also defeated Gabon 4-1.
The Elephants finish the group stage on six points, level with Rwanda.
But the hosts claimed top spot thanks to a superior head-to-head record after they beat the West Africans 1-0 in the tournament’s opening game.
