CBN assures safety of foreign currency deposits

Bundles of hundred dollar notesTVC E, BUSINESS The closed-door meeting between the Senate and Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria ended with an assurance by the apex bank that citizens who deposit foreign currencies in their domiciliary accounts will not lose it to the government.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, disclosed this after the meeting on Tuesday.

Saraki also says tough actions will be taken on speculators of foreign currencies in Nigeria and that actions will be taken to ensure a downward interest rate regime.
