Aero Contractor workers protest

TVCE (LAGOS) – Members of the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria , and the National Union of Air Transport Employees,  have staged a peaceful protest in Lagos.

They are calling for immediate action against the victimisation and violation of the rights of Aero Contractors’ employees, by its management.

TVC News’ Ola Awakan witnessed the demonstration and reports that the aggrieved workers in the Nigerian aviation industry have moved their secretariats to the premises of Aero Contractors Nigeria Limited’s head office in Lagos to express their grievances over the suspension of their Branch Chairmen, alleged staff victimisation and financial malpractices.

The union members say they will begin an industrial action at the expiration of the 48-hour ultimatum, if steps are not taken to address their demands.

The management of Aero Contractors kept journalists waiting for hours, as they refused to react to the allegations against them.

On improving the aviation sector in the country, the unionists urged the Minister of State, Aviation, Hadi Sirika to ensure that the welfare of workers and other basic needs are put in place.

The Unions believe that the glory of Aero Contractors aviation company in the country will be revived if the irregularities are redressed.
