Microsoft donates $1b to cloud computing resources

Microsoft has donated $1 billion of their cloud services to serve non-profits and university researchers over the next three years.

This act from Microsoft would ensure that cloud services is served to the public.

The software giant has set goal of serving over 70,000 non-profit bodies in three years.

Accordingly, the Microsoft’s three-part commitment focuses on ensuring – the cloud serves the public, the cloud increases access for university researchers and the cloud helps solve last-mile Internet access challenges.

The initiative is expected to provide better access of Microsoft Cloud Services to the powerful Microsoft Azure. Microsoft has a longtime commitment to making cutting-edge technology available at no or low cost to organizations working on solving some of society’s toughest problems.

The agenda which includes ending poverty, ending hunger, ensuring affordable, reliable and sustainable energy for all will only be achievable with the benefit of significant inventions and technology innovations.

In recent years, as organizations have increased their reliance on cloud computing, Microsoft has worked in partnership with a broad range of organizations focused on big challenges.
