TVCE (ABUJA) – The House of Representatives on Tuesday momentarily dissolved into a rowdy session over President Muhammadu Buhari’s letter notifying the National Assembly of corrections to the 2016 budget.
Minority Leader, Leo Ogor led the opposition in describing the President’s action as a violation of House Rules.
According to him, having laid the budget before the National Assembly, whatever correction to the document can be effected only at the Committee level.
Ogor also demanded to know why the Speaker Yakubu Dogara did not read the President’s letter before delving into the legislative business of the day as is the usual practice.
The minority leader also queried why Dogara directed the distribution of the corrected budget even before Buhari’s letter was read.
The Speaker in trying to provide answers to Ogor’s many questions explained that he forgot the letter in his chambers and sent for it.
Members in support of the Speaker tried to drown out the queries of Ogor by hailing him intermittently while some opposition members provided backing for their leader and hailed him in return
